Space&Place is an international research collaborative comprised of scholars, artists, practitioners, community leaders and students who contribute to transdisciplinary research in the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Visual and Performing Arts.
Our members include staff and students at the NUI Maynooth Departments of Geography, English, and NIRSA, as well as scholars, practioners, artists, students and community leaders working in the Dublin area.
Space&Place collaborates regularly with the Ómós Áite Space/Place Research Group (Centre for Irish Studies, National University of Ireland Galway) and partners in the Dublin area, including GradCAM, IMMA and DublIntellectual, to organise and curate international symposia, exhibitions, dance festivals, reading groups, community-based projects, and other events.
International partners that Space&Place collaborates with include: Land2 and the PLaCE international research centre (UWE-Bristol; University of Dundee, Scotland' University of Minnesota; University of Melbourne, Australia).
In 2011, Space&Place became a founding institution of the international Mapping Spectral Traces network (http://www.mappingspectraltraces.org/) and has co-hosted two international MST conferences and related artistic and public events with Ómós Áite.
