Biography
I joined the Department of Geography in January 2008, having previously worked at UCD (2003-2007) and at Nottingham Trent University (2001-2002). I completed my PhD at the University of Kentucky in 2001.
Research Interests
My research interests lie at the intersection of political, cultural and social geography. My current research focuses on migration, in particular contemporary migration to Ireland. Bettina Migge (UCD) and I have completed a 2-year study of recent migration to Ireland, funded by the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences, and I continue to work on other migration-related research projects. In addition, I also engage in broader debates about the nature and practice of geography, informed by social theory.
