Thesis Title

Governance and Climate Change: enhancing adaptive capacity in Ireland's local authorities

Description of Project

The current research focuses on climate vulnerabilities and governance issues. This research aims to illustrate current measures in Ireland and to suggest ways to increase widespread proactive measures throughout the country. Empirically this research includes a climate vulnerability assessment, a critical analysis of relevant policy documents at local, regional and national levels; and stakeholder engagement with government staff members. Conceptually this national case study speaks to the wider discussion about governance, local agency and its role in climate mitigation and adaptation.
